ON DEMAND - Application of Digital Engineering in the Design and Construction of Complex Containment Systems

Cap and contain is one of the preferable remediation strategies when the site is heavily contaminated, rendering treatment and removal options impotent. Containment system construction faces multifaceted constraints when the site is going to be utilised as an industrial site with different facilities presented on the site and interfacing the containment system. The presentation will discuss an articulated design and construction process to address challenging site conditions using a digital mindset and tools. This can be used as a generic solution for many site remediation projects that seem unfeasible due to demanding circumstances.

This webinar will cover:

  • A general overview of a sample site conditions and containment challenges.
  • A review of design and construction capping systems with complex interfaces with site utilisation.
  • Looking at the approaches to digital quality control during construction.
  • Understanding containment system interfaces with numerous site utilities.

At the conclusion of this webinar you will:

  • Have an understanding of digital tools and methods to design a capping system.
  • Have reviewed a developed solution for a contaminated site considering fluctuating groundwater, groundwater drainage systems, surface water infiltration control, underground gas collection systems, capping systems to contain the contamination and perimeter barrier walls.
  • To get acquainted with a generic approach to remediate highly contaminated sites for future industrial and residential use.
