WEBINAR - An update on the QLD Draft Landfill Siting, Design, Operation and Closure Guidelines (currently out for Consultation)

This webinar will provide an overview on updates to DESI’s draft Landfill siting, design, operation and closure guidelines, currently out for consultation until the 23 Feb 2024.

The proposed updates should ensure Queensland’s landfill guidelines are more in line with other jurisdictions – come along to hear details of these proposed updates.

The draft updates include:

  • Regulating proportionate to risk in alignment with in the department’s Regulatory Strategy 2022-2027.
  • Set clear, minimum expectations for higher-risk elements of conducting a waste disposal activity, while continuing to outline outcome-focused objectives;
  • Minimum separation distances.
  • A landfill classification system aligned to ERA 60 thresholds.
  • Including a conceptual site model to demonstrate contamination linkages and need for types of further assessment.
  • Expanding on community engagement guidance and expectations.
  • Expanding on Construction Quality Assurance (CQA) planning and reporting.
  • Expanding on closure, rehabilitation and post-closure guidance.
