This month's theme: Women in Contaminated Land and Groundwater Management
CEO Welcome Address
In March of last year, following International Women's Day, two members independently reached out to me to discuss ways in which ALGA could enhance the participation and engagement of women across the industry. What began as informal discussions and brainstorming sessions eventually led to the establishment of the Women in Contaminated Land and Groundwater Management Specialist Interest Group (SIG).
As ALGA continues to promote an inclusive and diverse industry, I am pleased to announce the release of the March edition of e-cronicle, themed "Women in Contaminated Land and Groundwater Management." This edition offers a unique perspective on the industry and highlights some of the remarkable technical work being undertaken by women in the field. Additionally, it provides insights into the career journeys of several women. I encourage you to make use of the resource materials shared by the SIG.
Coming on the heels of our collective celebration of International Women's Day on 8 March, I trust that this edition of e-cronicle will foster a renewed appreciation among our members for the invaluable contributions and support available to women in our industry.

From the Industry
From the Industry In the month of International Women’s Day, the Certified Environmental Practitioner (CEnvP) Scheme is pleased to share changes that have been made to the requirements for achieving General Certification. The period for acquiring the required full-time experience has now been extended from 10 to 12 years. Together with the recent extension of the experience period for Specialist Certification from 15 to 17 years, this revision is designed to make it easier for part-time workers and those returning to the workforce from carers leave, parental leave or a long period of illness to meet the experience requirements. The change to General Certification requirements is reflected in the revised EIANZ By-Law 16: Certified Environmental Practitioner Scheme, which came into effect this month. Find out more about General Certification here: https://www.cenvp.org/guidance-notes-for-general-practice/.
This month EIANZ is pleased to share a Q&A with three esteemed EIANZ members: Bronwyn Dwyer, CEnvP and Climate Change SIS committee member; Melissa Harrison, Board Member and WA Mentoring Champion; and Di Buchan, Honorary Life Member and CEnvP Alumni. We asked Bronwyn, Melissa and Di about their what inspired them to pursue a career in the environment profession and their advice for future environmental practitioners.
