Connecting experts to advance understanding, guidance and best practice in contaminated sediment management.
The SSIG will focus on the intersection between contamination and sediment in both freshwater and coastal environments, with emphasis on improving assessment, management, and regulatory understanding. Areas of interest include:
- Contaminated sediment assessment and management
- Sediment transport, behaviour, and risk
- Freshwater and coastal sediment contamination
- Dredging and dredge material management
- Sea disposal
- Compliance and regulatory frameworks
- Risk assessment
- Pipelines and infrastructure interactions
- Circular economy applications (including waste and life-cycle considerations)
Ultimately, the SSIG’s work will support more robust and defensible assessment and management of contaminated sediments across the industry, and will drive advocacy, training, and knowledge sharing.
