Award 6A & 6B: Innovation that Advanced the Practice

Award 6A: Innovation that has Advanced the Practice of Contaminated Site Assessment (including policy, regulation, investigation, risk assessment, and data management and analysis).

The Award will go to the entry that in the view of the judges best demonstrates:  

 

a) progress in discovering new knowledge or innovating by applying existing knowledge relevant to understanding fate, transport, toxicity of soil or groundwater contamination; 

b) application of research outcomes in ways likely to improve investigation practice; and 

c) communication of new methods of investigation and their value to industry. 

 

Award 6B: Innovation that Advanced the Practice of Contaminated Site Remediation (including policy, regulation, planning, execution, environmental footprint reduction, verification, technology development and novel applications of tried and tested technology/methods). 

 The Award will go to the entry that in the view of the judges best demonstrates:  

 

a) progress in discovering new knowledge or innovating by applying existing knowledge relevant to understanding soil or groundwater remediation; 

b) application of research outcomes in ways likely to improve remediation practice. Discoveries may come about through problem identification by industry, collaboration with Research providers and then application of research outcomes by industry; 

c) communication of new remediation strategies and their value to industry; 

d) new ways of implementing remediation strategies to augment a site’s ecosystem services; and 

e) progress in the application of Green Remediation core elements (Less Energy Use; Less Air Pollution and Greenhouse Gas Emissions; Less Water Use and Impacts to Water Resources; Materials Management and Waste Reduction; Land Management and Ecosystems Protection. 

 

 Entry Information:

Entry information: 

1. All entries must address each of the Award Criteria clearly and be backed by appropriate quantitative evidence.

2. In the event of joint entries please list all organisations that should be recognised on the Award if successful.

3. Each project submission can be entered into other Award categories. If entering an Award in more than one category, the entry must be tailored to match the relevant category's criteria.

4. Please ensure that all your material is clearly labelled with the Award category number/s you would like it to be entered into.

5. All entries will be charged per submission.

6. Submission and or nomination entry/s are to be sent via the submission portal for distribution to the judges. The entry is to be limited to a maximum of 10,000 characters and up to 10 graphics (e.g. images, diagrams, charts) succinctly covering all the required criteria in the category. Words in excess of this page/word limit will be disregarded.

7. The project entries must apply to a project substantially completed during 2020 - 2021.

8. The entry must apply to a project/individual within Australia or New Zealand.
