Enviropacific Project: Hickson Road Gasworks Remediation
Client: Lendlease Building
Photographer: Joshua Dasey
Enviropacific have been engaged by Lendlease to remediate the former Hickson Road Gasworks. This project is vital in the rehabilitation and redevelopment of the One Sydney Harbour Barangaroo precinct.
Represented in this image is the interior of our odour control enclosure, with Enviropacific’s team having recently grouted over the gasworks annulus which previously contained coal tar, one of the major contamination sources within the development site.
The emission control system running from the ceiling and along the western wall of the enclosure plays an important role in managing the volatile contaminants and odours which are released during the process of exposing the Gasworks annulus.
The ability to remove such volatile and obnoxious contaminants in one of the most densely populous areas in Australia without major disruption to the public is a testament to the scale of this major development project and the highly complex ex situ remediation methods being employed by Enviropacific in this image.
The scale of this project was captured by photographer Joshua Dasey with a broad depth of field and foreground-focus on our technical team that are the core of this major national remediation project.
