Wellington Branch Event – Groundwater Sampling Training: Best Practices for Field Collection, Preservation, and QA/QC

Join the Wellington Australasian Land and Groundwater Association (ALGA) branch for a practical, field-based Groundwater Sampling Training session designed to sharpen your skills and boost your confidence on site.

This hands-on workshop takes you into the field, with guided practice sampling from a Wellington groundwater bore. Learn directly from experienced practitioners so you’ll pick up the methods that matter, plus the tips and tricks that can save time, prevent common mistakes, and improve data quality. Expect plenty of opportunity to ask questions.

Whether you’re new to groundwater monitoring or looking to refresh and standardise your approach, you’ll gain practical insight into:

  • Setting up for a safe, efficient sampling run
  • Purging and stabilisation: what to measure, when to sample, and why
  • Low-flow sampling techniques and equipment considerations
  • Field measurements, sample handling, preservation, and chain-of-custody essentials
  • QA/QC fundamentals
  • Troubleshooting in the field

After the training, keep the conversation going at our debrief and networking at Park Kitchen
