Webinar – Regenerate to Power: Remediation’s Role in Australia’s Energy Hubs

As Australia accelerates its energy transition, new energy precincts and hubs are increasingly being delivered on complex brownfield and legacy industrial sites. In this context, remediation can often be treated as a regulatory requirement rather than a strategic input to planning and long‑term land stewardship. This creates challenges for organisations tasked with balancing legacy contamination risks with evolving land uses and future energy infrastructure needs.

Drawing on experience from large‑scale energy precinct remediation and development, this session examines how remediation technologies can be repositioned as a strategic planning tool rather than a downstream compliance activity. Using the Swanbank Energy Precinct as a case study, the webinar explores how early‑stage remediation strategies can inform land‑use decisions, manage uncertainty, and support long‑term precinct outcomes to support the energy transition.

In this webinar, attendees will explore:

  • How remediation technologies can support precinct or hub master planning, not just site‑specific remediation,
  • Ways to manage uncertainty as land use, infrastructure requirements, and climate conditions continue to evolve,
  • How to integrate legacy contamination risks with future energy infrastructure and development objectives,
  • Approaches to adaptive monitoring and governance for long‑term groundwater stewardship,
  • How early remediation strategy can translate into meaningful, precinct‑scale decision‑making for the energy transition.

This webinar is particularly relevant for environmental and planning professionals, consultants, asset owners, and regulators involved in energy precinct development, contaminated land management, and strategic land‑use planning—especially those seeking to improve long‑term outcomes across complex, multi‑use sites supporting Australia’s energy transition.
