Webinar – HydraSleeves and Passive Diffusion Samplers

Supplier Spotlight

Groundwater sampling practices continue to evolve as environmental professionals seek methods that improve efficiency while maintaining representative, defensible data. While conventional groundwater monitoring programs have traditionally relied on volume purge and low-flow sampling techniques, increasing attention is being given to passive sampling approaches that can reduce field effort, investigation-derived waste (IDW), and overall monitoring costs.

One technology gaining wider application is the HydraSleeve™ Passive Grab Sampler, which enables groundwater samples to be collected without purging while still targeting representative groundwater conditions. As industry seeks more efficient and sustainable monitoring solutions, passive sampling is being evaluated across a growing range of contaminants and hydrogeological settings.

In this webinar, our speaker will explore:

  • Conventional groundwater sampling methods, including volume purge and low-flow sampling
  • The principles of passive groundwater sampling and how HydraSleeve technology operates
  • Advantages, limitations, and suitable applications of passive sampling approaches
  • Key project considerations that influence successful implementation
  • Comparisons between HydraSleeve and conventional low-flow sampling for VOCs, metals, major ions, sulfate, and PFAS
  • Case studies from Australia and North America demonstrating field performance
  • Current regulatory perspectives and the role of project objectives, DQOs, hydrogeology, and technical justification when selecting sampling methods
  • Deployment best practices, quality considerations, and lessons learned from extensive field use

Passive groundwater sampling has been used internationally for more than two decades and is increasingly being considered as a practical alternative to traditional sampling techniques. Numerous studies have demonstrated that, under appropriate site conditions, passive sampling can generate data comparable to conventional low-flow methods while reducing equipment requirements, sampling time, and waste generation.

The presentation will provide a balanced and technically focused discussion of where passive sampling is most effective, recognising that groundwater sampling methods should be selected based on project objectives and site-specific conditions rather than the endorsement of individual products. Attendees will gain practical insights into evaluating passive sampling as part of groundwater monitoring programs and understanding where HydraSleeve technology may offer operational and economic benefits.

This webinar will be particularly valuable for contaminated land consultants, hydrogeologists, environmental scientists, regulators, site owners, and groundwater practitioners involved in the design, implementation, and review of groundwater monitoring programs. A live Q&A will follow, and the session will be recorded.
