Webinar – Cracking the Code on Gas Flow and Concentration

Presented by the ALGA Gas and Vapour Specialist Interest Group

Concentration and flow are fundamental in landfill and ground gas risk assessment, yet the relative importance is poorly understood. These parameters are critical for understanding gas behaviour, assessing risks, and making defensible decisions, along with using the conceptual site model.

In this webinar, our speakers will explore:

  • The relationship between concentration and flow, and how to critically assess both
  • The purpose and importance of flow measurements in landfill gas and ground gas risk assessment
  • Why the order of the bore monitoring methodology matters when interpreting flow
  • How flow influences gas screening values and the resulting characteristic situation
  • The importance of considering credible pathways from the source and the bore response zones through to receptors
  • How flow may be generated by sources other than landfill gas or ground gas production
  • Assessing the volume of the gas source and how the flow provides valuable insight
  • Using vapour intrusion modelling to assess methane and carbon dioxide risks at receptors.

Case studies will be presented to illustrate these concepts.

This webinar will be particularly valuable for environmental professionals, auditors, consultants, and regulators involved in ground gas risk assessment, landfill gas risk assessment, and vapour intrusion evaluation.
