Climate change is creating a future characterised by increasing uncertainty and non-stationarity, challenging long-held assumptions about environmental, financial, and operational risk. As the impacts of climate change become more evident, contaminated land and groundwater practitioners will need to consider how changing physical conditions and financial pressures may influence remediation projects, risk management approaches, and long-term decision-making.
This webinar will explore the relationship between climate change, financial risk, and contaminated land remediation. It will examine how climate-related financial impacts are emerging, the implications for remediation business models, and how physical climate hazards such as extreme heat, flooding, and inundation could affect project planning and delivery.
In this webinar, our speakers will explore:
The presentation will also consider how climate change may alter assumptions that have traditionally underpinned contaminated land assessment and remediation, creating new challenges for practitioners, regulators, and asset owners.
This webinar will be particularly valuable for contaminated land consultants, regulators, asset owners, environmental managers, and professionals involved in remediation planning and delivery. A live Q&A will follow, and the session will be recorded.

Nick Wood is an expert in the emerging field of climate change as a sovereign risk. At the core of his strategic work is the simple observation that climate change is a new world of "non-stationarity". This presents serious challenges to the Australian economy and consequently to the ability of Governments to borrow money to fund development.
He has worked in climate policy for over 25 years across multiple jurisdictions. His work on the financial risk from climate change has been published in the journal Nature Climate Change and cited by the World Bank and the US Economic Council. He co-authored the report "Climate Change and Good Corporate Governance" for the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
