Use of Constructed Floating Wetlands as a Nature-Based Water Treatment Solution

Please note that registration is limited to 250 participants due to licensing constraints.

Learn how to use Constructed Floating Wetlands to remove nutrients and clean up water bodies, including dams, ponds, stormwater, effluent ponds and rivers, as a nature-based positive treatment solution, part of a circular economy.

Water and wastewater treatment invariably requires high capital cost for installation, use significant energy and have high ongoing operations and maintenance costs. Constructed Floating Wetlands (CFWs) offer a nature-based water and wastewater treatment option where plants are used and the roots grow into the water body, forming biofilms, and uptake the nutrients, removing up to 50% of phosphorous and nitrogen from the water and improving BOD.

Find out how CFWs can benefit you in treating water and wastewater in dams, rivers, effluent lagoons, lakes and virtually any water body. Features include:

  • Modules are manufactured from UV stabilised LDPE lasting up to 50 years and can be recycled at end of life
  • They do not break down or release microplastics into the water
  • Are stable, buoyant, robust and can be walked on
  • Can be fitted with walkways for easy access and handrails for safety
  • Help prevent algal growth through nutrient removal
  • Can polish effluent to help meet environmental requirements for discharge to the environment
  • Be part of a circular economy
  • Provide safe habitat for a variety of animals, birds and fish
  • Increase carbon sequestration
  • Improve water quality in farm dams
  • Improve water quality for irrigation from golf course dams
  • Easy to install and have low maintenance requirements
  • Reduces water temperature under CFW modules
  • Can support solar panels for power generation

This webinar is not highly technical and suitable for those that are interested in learning more about alternate water treatment systems.

Speakers

Kim Falster

Kim Falster

CEO
Clarity Aquatic

Kim has an extensive background in water and wastewater treatment, having worked both in sales, marketing, distribution and general management for water treatment companies, as well as in operations, maintenance and management of major treatment plants. He is familiar with virtually all treatment technologies.

After managing the 5th largest water filtration plant in the world, Kim lent his hand to developing a Strategic Business Plan for a startup company and stayed on as CEO to grow the company. Clarity Aquatic offers a nature-based water and wastewater treatment solution that uses Constructed Floating Wetlands (CFWs) to remove nutrients from water bodies, using plants.

The CFW modules link together using special keys to form stable, robust, UV stabilised islands containing baskets containing plants where the roots grow down into the water bodies, form biofilms, and suck up the nutrients. The plants are periodically harvested, sequestering carbon and removing the nutrients.
