Tasmania Branch Event – Onsite Encapsulation of Contaminated Waste

Dig and dump is often used to deal with soil contamination, with soils being taken to landfill at great expense, and often unnecessarily accelerating the loss in landfill capacity. Onsite encapsulation is an option which can sometimes be considered a viable option.

This event will include three presenters who will discuss different aspects of onsite containment / encapsulation of contaminated soil.

• Why would you want to consider onsite encapsulation and what is the process to obtain approval in Tasmania?
• How is encapsulation / containment achieved and what is considered a good outcome, as seen from a remediation contractor?
• How do you deal with a huge volume of PFAS contaminated soil which cannot be disposed offsite due to volume, concentrations, and other logistical issues?

The event will include networking opportunities before and after and light refreshments will be provided.
