Madline Sinha

Contaminated Land Scientist
Environment Canterbury Regional Council

Madeline is a Contaminated Land Scientist who has been at Environment Canterbury (the Canterbury Regional Council) for the past 4 years. Madeline holds a BSc that focussed on physical geography and is completing a MSc with a thesis investigating microplastics in Antarctic soils. Madeline has worked in councils throughout New Zealand in roles that saw her monitoring landfills in one role, to sharing the wonders of moa bones and local art in another. In her role as a scientist at one of the country’s largest regional councils, Madeline has seen a fair share of contamination ‘oopsies’ and ‘oh shits’, and has recently worked on risk modelling to predict, and hopefully prevent, those moments.
