Melbourne Branch Event – International Women’s Day 2026

THIS EVENT IS NOW SOLD OUT.

Everyone is welcome to join us for the ALGA Melbourne Branch International Women’s Day 2026 Breakfast where together we will explore the 2026 UN Women Australia theme of “Balance the Scales”, translated for technical and project-based workplaces, family life, and long-term financial outcomes. The session is designed to be constructive, evidence-informed, and action oriented.

This informative morning will feature a sit-down breakfast, key-note speaker, and panel discussion. ALGA will facilitate practical conversation around how “balance” is shaped by workplace design, particularly the distribution of paid work and unpaid care, and what leaders in technical sectors can do to improve fairness, retention, wellbeing, and long-term financial security. This event promises to be uplifting, educational, and deeply rewarding, making it a must‑attend occasion for anyone committed to creating positive change, championing diverse leadership, and being part of a thriving community of professionals who believe in the power and potential of women in STEM and beyond.

Enjoy networking opportunities before and after the program to connect with like‑minded professionals, exchange insights, and build meaningful professional relationships. We look forward to seeing you there!

Jeremy Newstead

General Manager
Helia EHS

Jeremy Newstead is General Manager for Helia EHS and is a senior environmental leader with over 20 years’ experience delivering complex contaminated land and environmental risk projects across Australia, the Pacific Islands, and Europe. His background spans environmental site assessment, remediation, water management, and human health and ecological risk assessment across government, industrial, waste, and property sectors.

Now working primarily at a leadership and strategic level, Jeremy focuses on how workplace design, decision-making systems, and leadership behaviours shape outcomes for people as much as projects. He is particularly interested in how technical and project-based workplaces can better support fairness, retention, wellbeing, and long-term career sustainability.

Jeremy brings a practical, reflective perspective to discussions on balance, drawing on both professional experience and lessons learned over time about flexibility, inclusion, and the unintended consequences of “always-on” cultures in STEM and consulting environments.
