Start time: Arrive 5:30 pm for a 6:00 pm sharp forum start.

The event is designed to serve as a crucial platform for policy makers and regulators to disseminate information to the environmental sector. This exchange of information is intended to enhance our collective approach to environmental management and compliance. Furthermore, it offers environmental professionals an opportunity to engage with policy makers and regulators on matters of industry significance, gain clearer insights into evolving issues, expanding states of knowledge, or changing regulations. In addition, there is significant benefit to new entrants and those requiring clarification to understand the roles of the departments and where they interface.

The overarching objective is to establish a dependable channel of communication that bridges the gap between those working in environmental industries and, policy makers and regulators. This communication aims to foster better outcomes for the Victorian community and environment by jointly addressing pivotal issues and adapting to significant regulatory changes. Pillars of the proposed sessions are:

  • Consistent and Reliable Timing and Format: The DEECA and EPA forum will use a consistent schedule and format to ensure that participants can rely on the event as a dependable source of information and engagement. This will help attendees plan ahead and generate interest in their participation in future sessions.
  • Building on Previous Knowledge: We aim to avoid starting from scratch in each session. Instead, we will build upon the foundation of knowledge and insights gained from previous forums. This iterative approach allows for a deeper exploration of evolving topics, fostering a more comprehensive understanding of the challenges and changes being addressed by Victoria’s key environmental policy maker and regulatory bodies.
  • Effective Communication Platform: The forum will continue to serve as an effective platform for regulators to communicate vital information to the environmental sector. It will provide a medium for open dialogues, enabling environmental professionals to engage with regulators, seek clarity on important matters, and offer their perspectives.
  • Deep Dives for Substance: To add even more substance to the discussions, we will introduce deep dive sessions. These focused discussions will provide expert lead in-depth insights into key topics, issues, and challenges. Attendees will have the opportunity to actively participate and share their expertise, creating a more enriching and informative experience.
  • Interactive Polling: We will incorporate an interactive element into the forum by conducting real-time polls through a browser-based platform. These polls will assess the most pressing topics and areas of concern for attendees. The outcomes of these polls will be curated by the policy maker and regulator team, and ALGA, ensuring that the subsequent sessions address the issues that matter to the community and industry.
  • By adhering to these objectives, the DEECA and EPA forum will continue to evolve into a dynamic and responsive platform for knowledge exchange, fostering collaboration between regulators and the environmental sector. This iterative approach ensures that each forum session is a valuable building block in our collective journey toward better environmental management and compliance.
