Contaminated land management rarely plays out as neatly as the textbooks suggest. This session dives into the real world intersections of legislation, policy, and the occasional dose of chaos that comes with navigating the frameworks we work within.
We’ll unpack the messy bits: interpreting data in context, navigating evolving guidance, balancing risk and practicality, and understanding how “mild chaos” often shapes the path from investigation to action.
We’ll also explore how scientific evidence and policy expectations come together in practice and what it really takes to make decisions that are defensible, transparent, and grounded in both good science and sound judgement.
