Hungry for something new? Come along to hear about current cases and emerging innovations in contaminated land and groundwater.
SLR Consulting’s Sarah Ensoll will discuss the struggles of enabling beneficial soil reuse in a dynamic brownfield redevelopment context at a stream-bound, former steel tube manufacturing facility.
EDL’s Dr. Kapish Gobindlal will be discussing innovative mechanochemical technologies for dealing with complex environmental and toxic waste issues like asbestos and PFAS with a focus on restoring the environment.
Last and certainly not least Riley Consultants’ own Marcus Herrmann will speak to the redevelopment risk assessment and consenting process for a former landfill and railway repair depot, tucked away just beside the heart of one of Auckland’s oldest suburbs.

During his time at Council, Marcus contributed to the development of national and regional contaminated land legislation, notably the NES-CS and AUP-OP.
Since joining Riley Consultants in 2018, Marcus has undertaken various due diligence, consenting and development projects on brownfields sites, and has worked for councils and private clients for risk assessment, management and consenting of closed landfills, and for the safe development of land on or near these sites.
