On the 29th of November 2018, the Australian Modern Slavery Act passed all stages of the Australian Parliament. This Act requires entities based or operating in Australia, which have an annual consolidated revenue of more than AUD$100 million ($50 million in NSW), to report annually on the risks of modern slavery in their operations and supply chains, and actions to address those risks.
This brings Australia into the realms of being a leading nation who have formally introduced a specific piece of legislation, to reflect a growing domestic and international commitment to eliminate exploitative practices. Is your company ready to comply with the Act?
