What has been the highlight of your Branch/SIG this year?
The main highlight for the SIG has been the forum it provides for auditors to come together and share challenges and ideas for improvement of auditing and contaminated land practice across the country, pursue common ground and encourage networking.
We have members from all jurisdictions in the SIG, ensuring that there is opportunity to discuss any emerging issues, and compare these with what’s happening in other states. The nature of the topics discussed cover regulatory, technical and professional development areas. We’ve discussed everything from auditor appointment and registration fees to mentoring of new/junior auditors and a range of other topics. These discussions have yielded several initiatives/ideas for advocacy and improvement. Some of these are pursued either by the SIG as a whole or by members coming together with a common interest.
What are you most excited about in the new financial year (1 July 2025 – 30 June 2026)
We are currently focussing on planning and delivering a panel session at ecoforum later this year in Brisbane. That will take up most of the SIG’s time between now and October.
