CEO Opening Remarks
With the year now in full swing, I am pleased to introduce the first edition of e-cronicle for 2025, themed Future Focus. This theme highlights our Emerging Professionals who are the future leaders of our industry. As an Industry Association, our role is to connect, engage, and showcase new talent in the contaminated land and groundwater sector.
At the recent Mining Groundwater and Mining Symposium in Perth, I was reminded of the exceptional talent entering our industry. Two PhD students delivered highly engaging and informative presentations, demonstrating the depth of expertise and passion among Emerging Professionals. I encourage you all, whether within your own organisations or through future ALGA events, to support and mentor newcomers. Attracting and retaining top talent is essential to the growth and success of our industry.
One key initiative launching this month is a trial mentoring program for women in the industry, led by our Women in Contaminated Land and Groundwater Specialist Interest Group. This trial program will connect 50 mentors and mentees, fostering professional networks and supporting their development. We hope these relationships will help participants navigate industry challenges and advance their careers.
2025 is shaping up to be another significant year, as reflected in the strong start to our webinars and Branch events. To stay informed, keep an eye out for our weekly publication What’s On, which is released every Monday. If you are looking for ways to get more involved in ALGA, please reach out to our membership team at membership@landandgroundwater.com.
I look forward to the year ahead and to working together to support the future of our industry.
